Cozy latte blending warm spices and creamy milk for a comforting morning or afternoon pick-me-up.

# Ingredient List:

→ Coffee

01 - 1 cup freshly brewed strong coffee or 2 espresso shots

→ Milk

02 - 1 cup whole milk (or substitute with oat, almond, or soy milk)

→ Spices & Flavorings

03 - 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
04 - 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
05 - 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
06 - 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves (optional)
07 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
08 - 2 teaspoons brown sugar or honey (optional, to taste)

→ Topping

09 - Whipped cream (optional)
10 - Additional ground cinnamon, for dusting

# Directions:

01 - Combine milk, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and brown sugar in a small saucepan. Heat over medium-low, whisking frequently, until hot and steamy without boiling, about 3–4 minutes.
02 - Remove from heat, stir in vanilla extract, then froth the milk mixture with a milk frother or whisk vigorously until foam forms.
03 - Pour hot coffee or espresso into two mugs.
04 - Slowly pour the spiced frothed milk over the coffee, holding back foam with a spoon to layer foam on top last.
05 - Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with ground cinnamon if desired. Serve immediately.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • It transforms everyday coffee into something that feels indulgent without any fancy equipment or skill.
  • The spices wake up your senses in a way that plain lattes never do, especially on gray mornings.
  • You can tweak the sweetness and spice levels until it tastes exactly like yours, not a chain menu version.
02 -
  • Do not let the milk boil or it will lose its smooth texture and develop a skin on top that ruins the froth.
  • Add the vanilla after you take the pan off the heat, heating it directly makes the flavor flat and less aromatic.
  • If your milk is not frothing well, make sure it is hot enough, cold or lukewarm milk will not hold foam no matter how much you whisk.
03 -
  • Use freshly ground spices if you can, the difference in aroma and flavor is noticeable and worth the extra step.
  • If you do not have a frother, shake the hot spiced milk in a sealed jar for about 30 seconds, it creates surprisingly good foam and feels a little like a kitchen magic trick.
  • Brew your coffee a bit stronger than usual so the spices do not drown out the coffee flavor entirely.
